Five arrested in Long Caye weapons bust

Meanwhile, Caye Caulker police continue their investigations into a weapons seizure that left five people in police custody. According to court reports, around seven thirty on Friday morning, caye cops and officials from the Fisheries Department conducted a search operation on Long Caye, located about nine miles south of Caye Caulker. We understand that near one of the houses, authorities found a twenty gauge pump action shotgun and four cartridges, two AR-15 rifles, like the one shown here, with thirty-five rounds of ammunition and twenty-nine nine millimetre bullets. The occupants of the house, seventeen year old Linton Gentle, a fourteen year old minor, forty-six year old Eleuterio Lopez and thirty-four year old Amelia Tillett have since been arrested and charged with Keeping Prohibited Firearms and Keeping Unlicensed Firearms and Ammunition. They appeared in Belize City Magistrate’s Court this morning and were granted bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars each. The case has been adjourned until October fifth.
