Heartless cowards snatch purse of 82 year old woman
Yes, there have been more heartless crimes committed in Belize … and no, this particular incident did not leave its victim injured or dead … but tell me: what kind of cowardly dog would snatch the purse of an eighty-two year old woman. This morning I arrived upon the scene shortly after the robbery occurred.
Agnes Paul, Robbery Victim
?I hope they could just give me the possessions. The money is gone you know I can?t do nothing for that. I have about eighty to ninety dollars otherwise.?
Eighty-two year old Agnes Paul was exiting her vehicle on Rectory Lane when a young man walked up from behind and grabbed her purse.
Agnes Paul
?Just getting out of my car and he come right up and he grabbed the bag and I grabbed him like so. He said don?t make any noise, and I still grab him like that. He run and everything is in my bag. My car keys, my house keys, my social security card and my driver?s license everything is in there. And the prescription from the doctor, because I just come from the doctor.?
Paul says the thief also made off with a total of one thousand dollars she had just received from the bank. The robber described only as dark young man then rant onto Palm Lane where he was seen running towards southern foreshore where he jumped into a white car that appeared to have been waiting for him. It is believed the robber and an accomplice may have seen Paul leave the bank and followed the elderly woman.
Agnes Paul
?And you see I walk with a cane, but you see this time I walked without the cane. Excited, because I have a fractured spine.?
Jacqueline Godwin
?And he just walked up ? he wasn?t on a bicycle??
Agnes Paul
?He come right there and he pushed me like that so. Well I had the bag to come out right; I pull the bag to come out so he grabbed the bag form me, and as he did that I do like that, rake him and he said don?t make noise. Then he ran off.?
Paul had a total of one thousand and eighty dollars in her purse she described as a canvass bag framed in leather.
