Prison guard busted for half pound of weed
A prison officer might be spending a lot more time at his workplace after he was busted for drugs. According to court reports, on Monday thirty-six year old Rene Young was detained by his co-workers at the Hattieville Prison after they discovered what looked like marijuana in his knapsack. The police were called in and when they unwrapped a suspicious looking metal container that was in Young’s bag, they found a leafy substance believed to be cannabis which weighed in at half a pound. Young was promptly arrested and charged with drug trafficking. The prison officer was formally arraigned in the courtroom of Magistrate Sharon Fraser, where he pleaded not guilty and asked for bail, telling Fraser that he was the only breadwinner in his family. Fraser consented and granted Young bail of five thousand dollars. The case has been adjourned until August thirty-first. Weed is a highly valued commodity in the prison and is frequently smuggled to inmates by visitors using a variety of ingenious techniques.
