Belize Natl Basketball Team and OYE head to Cancun

The Belize National team heads to Cancun this Sunday for COCABA, the Central American Basketball Competition and as you will know by now, Channel Five will be broadcasting the games live via satellite. Our coverage begins bright and early on Open your Eyes on Monday morning from Cancun. William Neal and I will bring you up to the minute and behind the scenes reporting of Team Belize as it takes on Central America. In the first game, Belize will play Nicaragua at one o’clock. Our veteran sportscaster James Adderley and Leonard Ysaguirre will provide commentary as all the action unfolds at the Poliforum Cancun. On Tuesday, Belize plays Guatemala beginning at three o’ clock so you want to stay tuned as the national team plays with nationalist fervor to beat our neighbors. If Belize beats Nicaragua and Guatemala then it secures a spot in next year’s Centro Basketball Tournament and then onto the FIBA Americas tournament which is the qualifier for the 2012 Olympics. And on Wednesday, Belize will play a “do or die” game against the formidable Panamanians. This game will be aired immediately after our nightly newscast. So keep your remote on Channel Five for the live broadcast of the Cancun games and Open Your Eyes where we will also be interviewing renowned personalities from the state of Quintana Roo.
