…And family blames top cop for charges

But there was more trouble for Mervin Bood when the cops showed up. Since Mervin was trying to protect his family, he wasn’t expecting to be charged for any wrongdoing. And according to Gloria, the man behind their problems is the O.C. of the Eastern Division, David Henderson.

Okay, we do di right thing weh mi know fi do and come dah Belize and try investigate weh di happen and we gone dah Mr. Henderson yesterday. Ih stop mi right inna mi track, “he only di manoeuvre di joke because we lie and Mr. Bood could run and hide but he wah still get ah”. He, Mr. Henderson, tell me dat. Ih seh and my husband dah accomplice to Mr. Gillett, di policeman dah Crooked Tree so he let go my husband. Ih seh but he wah deal wid di inspector dah Ladyville Police Station anytime dis finish.”

Mervin Bood was arraigned on two counts each of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault against Lloyd Beet and Moushen Ramal, who allegedly ambushed his grandson. He also faced one count of Damage to Property for bullets that hit the Mercedez Benz. His attorney, Arthur Saldivar, is applied for bail in the Supreme Court today since Mervin suffers from asthma and hypertension. Late this evening Justice Mitchell Arana set bail at ten thousand dollars with a number of conditions.
