Businessman charged with manslaughter for 2005 shooting
A Belize City businessman has been charged with manslaughter as the result of a shooting that occurred almost a year ago. Thirty-nine year old Ben Bou-Nahra was arraigned this afternoon before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers and released on ten thousand dollars bail. Bou-Nahra fatally shot Shawn Copius on September seventeenth, 2005, after Copius had allegedly burglarised Bou-Nahra’s home in King’s Park. It is not clear why police or the D.P.P. took so long to initiate the charges. Bou-Nahra’s next hearing will take place on September first.
