Alleged Dangriga triggerman turns himself in
Police are crediting the media with the arrest of a shooting suspect in Dangriga. On last night’s newscast we published the photo of Darren Chiu, wanted by authorities for the shooting of businessman Orlando Habet last Thursday night. This morning Chiu, accompanied by lawyer Dickie Bradley, turned himself in to the Dangriga Police. He was immediately charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm and conspiracy to commit robbery. Chiu was remanded to Hattieville Prison until his next hearing on August sixteenth. Previously arrested for the robbery were Jorge Valencia, Glenda Moralez, Delmar Maradel and James McKenzie. It is believed the robbery and shooting were drug related.
