Veranda collapses; four suffer minor injuries
Four residents of Belize City received a scare and some cuts and bruises today when the Regent Street veranda on which they were walking, collapsed. For Allen Valdez, it all happened in a flash.
Allen Valdez, Victim
?This is a building, a warehouse for Tourist Board. We were offloading some hundred boxes, these boxes right here full of maps. And apparently, the veranda that we were loading the boxes on is kind of rotten and somehow I just looked down and I was going through the floor with four people. One of the people is a secretary that works at tourist board, as well as one of my employees and another worker and we just all fell through the veranda. Two people got hurt. And I?m in a little pain right now, my finger is a little sore; my ankle is hurting a little bit. And that?s about it. The ambulances came on time, surprisingly, and that?s basically what happened.?
Those injured in the fall were treated and released from the K.H.M.H.
