Ballers for Life: Dangriga and Belize District win championships
The annual Belize Basketball Federation’s Ballers for Life Summer Camp ended last Friday with a big rally at the St. John’s College gymnasium. The two-week camp, which was held from the seventh to the sixteenth of August, included over seven hundred young basketball enthusiasts from across the country. The boys and girls were between the ages of seven and eighteen. The camp taught its participants the fundamental skills of basketball and in Belize City, former NBA player, Derek Anderson, was a surprise guest. Anderson also gave the campers words of inspiration and hope. The final day of the camp saw the ballers compete for the title as champions in U –twelve, U-fifteen and U-eighteen categories at the SJC Gymnasium. Dangriga won both the U-twelve and U-eighteen titles while Belize City came out on top as the U-fifteen champs.
