Belize delegation departs for C.A. & Carib. Games
It’s a long way to go but twelve Belizean athletes and several officials departed the country this afternoon en route to Cartagena, Colombia for the twentieth Central American and Caribbean Games. They will compete with top athletes from around the region in athletics, cycling and karate. Riding for Belize are Gina Lovell, Gregory Lovell, Ian Smith and Leslie Sanchez, along with coach John Swift. Leon Guild, Angel Lopez, Rito Fernandez and Estevan Mossiah, coached by David Diego, will try to make their mark on the karate competition. In addition, Joel Wade, Tricia Flores, Jonathan Williams and Jason Jones will represent Belize on the athletic filed, under the guidance of Frederick Evans. Belize’s delegation will be lead by Frank McKenzie of the Belize Karate Association. The team is expected to return on July twenty-ninth.
