P.M. attends Panama summit
In other news from Cabinet it has been confirmed that Prime Minister Said Musa has received the report of the Senate Select Committee investigating Social Security. The document was presented on Monday morning by the clerk of the National Assembly and the P.M. has committed to making his views known at an early date. Among the report’s specific recommendations is that S.S.B. Chairman Yasin Shoman and General Manager Narda Garcia be dismissed from their posts.
And the Prime Minister should have ample time to weigh his options on Social Security as he wings his way to Panama for a summit of SICA, the Central American Integration System. That meeting will be followed by a companion summit of the Tuxtla Mechanism where Mexico joins the Central American nations to discuss advancement of the Plan Puebla Panama. While the P.M. is away Godfrey Smith will act in his place. Usually deputy John Briceno would take over the top spot but Briceno is in Rio attending a forum on energy and the environment. Also out of town this week on official business is foreign minister Eamon Courtenay and ministers Mark Espat and Joe Coye.
