Felicia Chen to stand trial for the death of her three kids
A young woman accused of killing three of her children will appear in court on September seventeenth to stand trial on three counts of murder. On April twenty-seventh twenty-two year old Felicia Chen allegedly walked her four children into the sea at Belizean Beach and held three of them underwater until they were dead. The fourth child ran away and summoned help, which arrived in time to save Chen, who was reportedly trying to drown herself. The young mother was charged for three counts of murder, but instead of being remanded to the Belize Central Prison, the court ordered a fourteen day period of psychiatric evaluation. The accused woman was believed to be suffering from chronic depression. Chen reappeared in Court on May fourteenth, and then on May twenty-second and both times was ordered back into evaluation. Since then she has been housed at the Mental Health Acute Unit at the Palm View Center in Belmopan. But News Five has learned that Felicia Chen will have her day in court, and sooner rather than later. According to a credible source, the Ministry of Health’s psychiatrist Dr. Wesley Quimbo has provided the court with a report which states that Chen can be released from the facility and is capable to stand trial. The accused is scheduled to appear before the court on September seventeenth, and it is believed that at that time she will be placed on remand at the Belize Central Prison.
