Man charged for trying to kill his brother-in-law
Following a family dispute in the city on Friday afternoon, police arrested and charged a deportee for the offense of Attempted Murder and Grievous Harm upon his own brother-in-law. Last Friday, thirty-seven year old Roberto Gilharry, a boat captain and his wife, Janelle Gordon, sustained injuries and police believe the man who inflicted the injuries is forty-seven year old Luis Gordon, also known as “Rojas”, a resident of Amara Avenue. Gilharry was chopped to the left ear, head and shoulder area, while Janelle who is Luis Gordon’s sister, sustained a cut wound to her right hand. In a report to police, Gilharry claimed that after he parked his vehicle next to Luis’ van in the family yard, Luis approached him aggressively with a shovel and attacked him from behind. Gilharry said he passed out and when he gain consciousness, his brother-in-law, who took the wooden handle of the shovel and hit him on the head. He reported that his wife and a friend intervened preventing Luis from entering the house. According to Gilharry, this is not the first time his brother-in-law threatened to kill him.
