Did Elrich Trench attack his landlord?

Elrich Trench

A tenant who clashed with his landlord found himself before the court this morning. Elrich Trench was arraigned in the court of the Chief Magistrate, Ann Marie Smith, for two counts of Aggravated Assault and Uttering Threatening Words upon Everett Davis. The alleged incident happened this past Sunday in Belize City. Trench claimed in court that he was tired of the rumors being spread against him by his landlord and that on the day of the incident; he grabbed a machete and stood by his door but never attacked Davis. Trench pleaded not guilty also saying that he has been trying to avoid Davis and has been saving up so he could move out of the house. There was no objection to bail by the court prosecutor; however, he asked that the court set conditions to Trench’s bail. The Chief Magistrate agreed and ordered Trench to move from Davis’ house as soon as possible. Trench was also ordered not to interfere with Davis and to report to the Queen Street Police Station every Monday, effective September sixteenth. Bail was set at five hundred dollars, but Trench was unable to meet it and was taken to the Queen Street Police Station.
