Expo Belize Marketplace set for this Saturday
There two major events that will take place at the same time this weekend. The Carnival Road March takes place on Saturday, as does the Chamber of Commerce’s Expo Belize Marketplace which will continue on Sunday. Some eighteen thousand persons visited the expo last year, and the Chamber says it is seeing an increase in the number of booths for the two day event on September fifteen and sixteenth. Aside from a steady flow of artists who will be offering performances, the Chamber is also organizing an added feature to the event; it will be showing on television, the carnival road march.
Delmi Novelo, Marketing and PR Officer, Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry
“Last year we only had one hundred and fifty booths; this year we are having two hundred booths inclusive of table spaces as well because we got a lot of requests from the business community so we were trying to allocate all of them. We have so much to display. We have the special booths for the commerce, the services, the industry. We also have the cooperatives at the expo and a special area for the department of the environment as well. We also have a special area for the kids so that they can go and bounce up at the bouncy house. We also will have the ICA Creative Village. We did that last year and this year we are incorporating it again. We have a list of renowned Belizean artists who will be singing and entertaining the crowd.
Every year we have an increase. We have interests from even international companies. For instance we are having someone from the Caribbean coming in for our expo. And as you can see it is not staying national but it is going internationally and it is definitely the perfect location for companies to come out and display their new products, their services and for people to learn what they do. Because there are many companies that are out there and they want to maximize their market and this is the perfect place to be the Expo Belize Market Place. We always want to make things different every year and this year, Jex Trophies will be rewarding or giving trophies to the football team who proudly represented us at the Gold Cup this year and so that is something special. And we are inviting everyone to come out and see that special presentation. We couldn’t have done anything about changing and you know all the story about it, but what we are doing through the assistance of CBC and Belizean to the Bone, we are doing the carnival live at their booth. So whoever is at the Expo will also get a chance to see the carnival at their booths. So there is nothing that anyone who is going to be at the Expo will miss out. so we can please the people as well.”
