Motion fails, Jenkins still director at C.G.A.
In news from the south, a resolution to remove Denzil Jenkins from the committee of management failed during a special general meeting of the Citrus Growers Association on Friday. According to the official numbers, ninety-five growers wanted to remove Jenkins but one hundred sixty-one voted that he remain in the post. So what happens now? Well apparently everything goes back to normal as the remainder of the board had committed that they would continue as directors even if the resolution to remove Jenkins failed. In June, the other members of the C.G.A. management committee had unanimously decided to put the resolution to the floor following complaints that the board couldn’t function because of Jenkins’ “disruptive behaviour”. Jenkins has maintained that he was being targeted because he had spoken against fellow director William Bowman, regarding the purchase of a large grove from the association.
