Parade routes for the Carnival and Jouvert

The highly anticipated Carnival Road March 2013 will be broadcasted live right here on Channel Five starting at one p.m. on Saturday. The road march is preceded, however, by the jouvert on Saturday morning starting at five a.m.  All in the spirit of the celebrations thousands of persons are expected to gather at the San Cas Plaza where they will make their way through the streets of the city plastered with a clay mixture…some with even chocolate. Both processions are expected to be filled with energy, resonating music and dancing. The jouvert starts from the San Cas Plaza. It goes over the Bel Can Bridge on to Central American Boulevard and then takes a right on to Cemetery Road. A left turn is then made on to West Canal and then another left on Vernon Street. The procession then makes a right turn on to Youth for the Future Drive and makes its way over the BelChina Bridge. Due to the street works on Douglas Jones, the parade will then go against the flow of traffic on North Front Street on to Mapp Street and proceed on Freetown Road where it will come to its final stop on Wilson Street for a Wet Fete. For the Carnival Road March on the other hand, the route remains the same; starting on Cesar Ridge Road and then taking the long stretch along the boulevard on to Princess Margaret Drive and ends at B.T.L. Park. Don’t forget to tune in love right here on Channel Five for our live coverage of the Carnival Road March starting at one p.m.
