British High Commissioner commences diplomatic tour in Belize
The new British High Commissioner to Belize, Peter Hughes, has arrived in the country to commence a diplomatic tour of duty. Hughes today paid a courtesy call on Minister of National Security, John Saldivar, in his capacity as acting Prime Minister. Hughes started his diplomatic career as Desk Officer in the British Defence Department, and has since served in Australia, the Caribbean, Asia and Afghanistan. He says that he hopes to build on the enduring friendship between the United Kingdom and Belize.
