Convicted policeman has fine increased on appeal
The Belize Court of Appeal has decided the case of police officer Sherwood Wade. Wade, convicted in the Supreme Court of manslaughter by negligence in the 2003 killing of Darnell McDonald in Ladyville, had sought to overturn his conviction. The Director of Public Prosecutions also appealed, citing the four thousand dollar fine as too lenient. In the end, the court agreed with the D.P.P., upholding Wade’s guilty verdict and upping the fine to fifteen grand.
