Belmopan cops looking for suspect

Tonight Belmopan police need your help in finding a suspect they say not only set his dogs after two of their own but tried to run over one of the officers. The drama unfolded around two on Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers Daniel Teck and Sheridan Lemoth were on bicycle patrol when they responded to a domestic dispute on Lubaantun Street. A woman approached the cops asking them to talk to her husband who was threatening her with harm.

Authorities say their men did not even have time to approach the couple’s front door because as the wife spoke with them, the man identified as Roberto Mazarigos came out of the house and released two ferocious dogs at the policemen.

Teck and Lemoth quickly responded by retreating to the end of the lane. At the same time the officers saw Mazarigos get into his van and attempt to leave the area.

As Teck and Lemoth rode their bikes towards the vehicle Mazarigos accelerated and drove his van in the path of P.C. Lemoth. Lemoth only had time to jump off his bicycle and into a drain before the vehicle ran over the bike. Mazarigos then fled the area.
