W. Hwy. accident leaves driver dead
Police say wet road conditions may have contributed to a fatal traffic accident last night on the Western Highway. Sometime around ten, thirty-three year old Anthony Espat and twenty-nine year old Roberto Escobar were heading west toward Belmopan but upon reaching between miles forty-two and forty-three Espat lost control of his Volkswagon Jetta. The car overturned and both driver and passenger received severe head and body injuries.
Both men were rushed to the Western Regional Hospital but Espat died before reaching Belmopan. Escobar, whose main injuries were to his left arm and leg, remains hospitalized. Police say when they arrived on the scene, the car was found on the south side of the road extensively damaged.
