Scouts office burgled … again
It’s one of the strongest players in efforts to put our country’s young people on the right path, but today the Scout Association of Belize is suffering. Over the weekend thieves broke into their headquarters at the Belize City Centre and made off with a TV, VCR and small safe holding two thousand five hundred dollars in cash. But, according to scout officials, the greatest loss was not financial. The purloined safe also held many important documents like land titles, the association’s original charter and other historical papers, as well a hard drive backing up all their computer records. The burglars gained access to the office by breaking the padlocks off the grill door and forcing the locks on the remaining glass and wooden doors. However heartless their actions may have been, officials are appealing to the criminals to at least return the documents as they have no value to anyone but the scouts.
