The P.U.P. celebrate 63rd birthday of party with exhibition

This Sunday, September twenty-ninth will mark some sixty-three years since the establishment of the People’s United Party. It’s a big moment for members and supporters of the P.U.P. as they reflect on the history of the party. For the second year in a row, a photographic exhibition is being held at Independence Hall in Belize City. The exhibit targeted the youths and many students gathered at the party headquarters for the pictorial featuring Belize’s political history, the road to independence under the guidance of the late Father of the Nation, George Price, as well as the accomplishments of the P.U.P. The theme is “Remembering the Legacy of George Price.”

Myrtle Palacio, Secretary General, P.U.P.

“Younger Belizeans to take a look at the history of the party; the history of politics in Belize, the history of building a nationhood in Belize and our theme of course has to be, “Remembering the Legacy of Right Honorable George Cadle Price.” He is one of the foremost leaders or the last of them in this struggle for nationhood and nation-building. And being also called the father of the nation for leading the country into independence.  A photo-exhibit of newspapers, of pictures, of past history, the 1954 general election; the line of people going in there, the various leaders who have visited with Belize or with the right honorable George Cadle Price and this year we also put in also our leader, the new leader of the party. There are two pictures showing honorable Francis Fonseca as the future.  We give them a tour starting from where we are with the representation of women in the House, the historical representation of women in the House, ending up at the slide show and a pictorial wall of Right Honorable George Cadle Price, a very historical and photograph of the Right Honorable George Cadle Price.”
