Convicted killer sentenced to 13 years behind bars
A man convicted of manslaughter in the Belize City Supreme Court has been sentenced to thirteen years behind bars. This morning Justice Troadio Gonzalez told the defendant Trevor Gill, “For the crime of manslaughter, the court can impose a sentence of life imprisonment. You were charged for murder and the jury considered rightly, when you inflicted injury it was only one stab and the jury understood that your intention was clearly not to kill. I also have to consider the prevalence of this type of offence in our society so many youths falling by the roadside. After considering everything, the appropriate sentence is thirteen years imprisonment with effect from today”. Gill was convicted earlier this week in connection with the death of Anthony “Pie Boy” Flowers last February.
