Reality Youth preaches through song

Story PictureMany people say that the church, as an institution, is not reaching the youth. “Everything is too old fashioned” the younger generation would say. However, reaching the youth is not an issue for Andrew Pitterson. He has many captivated by his verse. Pitterson is far from the regular bible thumper. While you may not know him by his birth name, you may have heard of his stage name, Reality Youth. He is an unconventional dancehall artist who preaches the word of the Lord. Reality Youth has a new video “Bun the Devil Out in Jesus’ Name” and he brought it by our studios earlier in the week.

“I have a song from Part two. I did the song already and I did the video for it and I also have a remix about to come out like maybe a month from now.”

Jose Sanchez
“What video you brought today?”

Reality Youth
“The name of the video is Burn the Devil out of People in Jesus’ Name. I shortened the word and got to the point to just Bun Dem Out; light dem up, bun out di wicked.”

Jose Sanchez
“Let me ask you, in this day and age where violence and sex and alcohol and drugs sell in videos, you’re coming with a different message. Why do you think people will be interested in your brand and your lyrics?”

Reality Youth
“It’s because it’s a clean message I’m bringing across the nation of Belize and I’m trying to set an example to the younger generation to let them know that you can have fun in God without drinking, without smoking and continue to be a positive role model in this nation. I believe in the time we’re in right now is a time there is so much negativity through the music industry especially through the reggae music. The little kids are cursing through certain songs they listen to. They take it into their mind and they start to follow up on these words that they are hearing from these songs and so I said I thank you God for giving me this talent so I can bring the word of God through the music and to show the nation that reggae music can also be a positive driveway through the nation of Belize.”

Reality Youth has produced two albums, Consuming Fire one and two.
