Child drowns; was under Human Services Dept. care
A drowning over the weekend has claimed the life of a Belize City child. According to police reports, around four on Sunday afternoon, ten year old Natalie Forbes was swimming in a pool with a group of eight other children at the Belize-R-US resort in Burrell Boom. But at some point, the girl went underwater and did not resurface. Forbes was pulled from the pool and received C.P.R. but she died at the scene. A post mortem has been scheduled for tomorrow. Forbes was in the care of personnel of the Department of Human Services at the time of her death and we understand tonight that an internal investigation has been launched into the incident.
