Charged with murder, jury says manslaughter
A Belize City man has been found guilty in connection with the death of Anthony Flowers last February. Late this afternoon in the Supreme Court, a jury of seven women and five men convicted Trevor “Flour” Gill of manslaughter after three hours of deliberation. Gill had initially been charged with murder after the victim, Anthony “Pie Bway” Flowers was fatally stabbed on Lovely Lane in Belize City last year. During trial, Gill had claimed he was with another man, Ordel Duncan, at the time of the incident. Duncan died before the matter reached the courts but Duncan’s mother testified that her son could not have been with Gill because he was with her in Ladyville on the night in question. Now that a guilty verdict has been handed down, Justice Troadio Gonzalez has set June twenty-third as the date for sentencing. Gill was defended by attorney David Moralez while Crown Counsel Audrey Matura presented the case for the prosecution.
