Another American fugitive nabbed in Belize

Everrett James Morris

Last Friday, we reported on American fugitive, forty-seven year old Kenneth Hibbs, who was caught by San Ignacio Police on Burns Avenue. Hibbs was wanted by U.S. Marshalls for parole violation and theft of Motor Vehicle. Hibbs carried no identification but he is currently in detention awaiting extradition to the U.S. sometime this week. But Hibbs it appears was not the only fugitive in recent times that has sought cover in the jewel and even more specifically, San Ignacio. A report coming from the U.S. media is that a fugitive murder suspect found in Belize is to be arraigned on Tuesday in Hidalgo County, Texas. Forty-five year old Everrett James Morris, who has been charged with murder, authorities say, has been on the run since September. Last Sunday, he was arrested in Belize. Morris is accused of beating to death fifty-one year old Jorge Olivarez, who had been staying at his residence in Pharr. According to the detectives, Morris was the last man to have seen Olivarez alive and following investigations, he was charged with murder. Olivarez’s body was found on September tenth near the intersection of Military Highway and Cesar Chavez Road in the Hidalgo County. Morris was believed to have absconded to Mexico, however, information then placed him in Belize. Morris was caught and agreed to turn himself in to the American Embassy and was flown to Houston last Monday.
