Fugitive caught at Mexican border
He has been on the run for three weeks but the long arm of the law has finally caught up with seventeen year old Rolando Lisbey. Lisbey, who is wanted in San Ignacio for the brutal beating of eighty year old Celestino Salas, was apprehended by immigration officers as he tried to cross the border into Mexico. According to Corozal police, around ten on Monday night, Lisbey appeared at the Belize side of the frontier when officers recognized him. He was detained and is scheduled to be transported back to San Ignacio where he will be formally charged. Meanwhile Salas, assaulted on May twelfth, continues to recuperate at home but is still suffering from hearing and memory loss. The elderly man was so badly beaten that police believe if a mobile patrol was not in the area at the time of the incident Salas would have died. He was also robbed of two hundred dollars.
