While Magana is no shortlisted to replace Penner, there are two persons in mind

Fermin Magaña

Now that’s a situation which is practically unheard of…where the executive committee of a party refuses to work with the Area Representative of that constituency. Magaña says that the decision of the committee came on instructions from a member of the U.D.P. Executive after Penner met with the Prime Minister last week and at this point, they’re looking at a future without Penner. So who’s the new face in Cayo Northeast to replace the disgraced Area Representative? Magaña says he’s not on the short list, but there are two persons being considered.

Fermin Magaña, Chairman, U.D.P. Cayo Northeast Committee

“At that point, we were waiting for word or direction from what he prime minister would have spoken to him. So it was different after he met with the prime minister and we had been in communication with party executives that told us that this is what was wanted from us.”

“I know you can’t go into very much specifics, but could you tell us a little bit more of what the party executives have indicated coming out of that meeting with the former minister of state and the prime minister?”

Fermin Magaña

“Well I was informed by the party executive member that spoke to me that yes he had expressed the fact that he would continue working with his people and he would not resign. And I was asked to continue the work that I was doing and for us to work with the idea of having a new person that will work along with us towards the future.  I’m not in that shortlist. I believe that the people that are there are quite good. So we do have a very good opportunity there for a good start.”

“Can I pick your mouth to find out who would be on that shortlist?”

Fermin Magaña

“Well I think that it won’t pass too much time and you will see. The work will start. I know there is work to be done. They are all excited with what will come in the future. We have the roofing of the Falcon Field; that is the first project that is happening in this area, which was something that was coming even before this whole thing came out. I think the person will start working quite soon, but I will not want to venture into either of those persons name until one has been decided upon—not to hurt anyone’s feelings.”
