Security guard dies after almost a week of being in a coma
In the other homicide…Kevin Anthony Jex was remanded on Friday for the attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon former security guard of Brown Sugar Market Place, Desmond Miller. But tonight, that charge will be upgraded to murder after Miller passed away this morning. Last Tuesday evening, Miller was routinely walking his dog, when he was allegedly approached from behind by a man identified as Jex. He was hit to the back of his head with a piece of wood as he stood in front of the City Hall just a stone’s throw away from his house on Angel Lane. Miller sustained a large cut to the head and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition and in a coma, but he died this morning. Tonight, the entire brown Sugar Complex is grieving his passing. Jex, meanwhile, will return to court on January seventh, 2014.
