Guatemalan man stabbed to death in the city
There has been relative peace in the City streets, but that was broken over the weekend when two stabbing victims succumbed to injuries. We start with the most recent murder, a Guatemalan national, twenty-eight year old Edgar Salazar who was stabbed on Coney Drive shortly after midnight on Sunday morning. He died minutes later at the Karl Heusner Memorial. Salazar had been living on Faber’s Road Extension for the past nine years and working as a supervisor at a supermarket, but his life was cut short as he partied with friends.

“I found out on Sunday around six in the morning. They say that he was stabbed to the stomach with a bottle and it was left like a chain. I don’t know why they would do something like this to him. They are saying that the group was there only to cause mischief and that the attackers just came to make bad.”
According to reports, Salazar was out socializing with a group of friends at this bar on Coney Drive in Belize City when a fight broke out on the street in front of the bar with another group of men. But while the group fled, Salazar was caught and stabbed reportedly with a broken pint bottle.

“They are saying that they arrived at the club and came straight to them with a chain and while the rest ran, only he was caught and he was stabbed to the stomach. For me, he was a good person, a hard worker that fought to take care of me and his son. He wasn’t a thief, he wasn’t nothing; he was a good straight man.”
Five persons have since been detained in connection with this homicide. Duane Moody for News Five.
