Benefit to assist Queen Sq. Anglican feeding programme
This weekend members of the newly established Lifeline Foundation will be keeping their fingers crossed as they pray for good weather and an even better turnout for its first fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday. Dubbed the “Black and White Charity Gala”, proceeds of the event will benefit the Liberty Foundation and the Queen’s Square Anglican feeding programme. According to organizers, the affair will include dinner prepared by Chef Jason Ocampo, music by the Grace Primary Steel Band and the Islanders from San Pedro, dancing, and silent auctions.
Marcelle Delahaye, Founder, Liberty Foundation
?It?s going to be a fantastic evening and a lot of hard work has gone into it from the Lifeline board. There?s going to be an auction and the Islander?s Band from San Pedro, who I am told are wonderful.?
Kendra Griffith, Reporting
?Are you all concerned about the weather any at all??
Marcelle Delahaye
?I just flew in today and I?ve been told that it?s been really bad. You know, I think everyone is optimistic and I just really have my fingers crossed for it. But it will be wonderful, still come if it?s raining, it will still be a good night.?
?Lifeline Foundation has decided to give half the proceeds to Liberty so we will be using it to go towards a training programme to train people as parent educators. We will provide support to families in need in Belize. So it?s called a ?Parents as Teachers? programme and it helps parents become their children?s first best teachers, so it?s giving support to families in need to prevent children from being placed into care.?
Tickets for the Black and White Gala cost one hundred dollars and can be purchased at the House of Culture, the Radisson Hotel or by calling 624-5044. The party starts at seven on Saturday on the grounds of the Belize City House of Culture.
