Herman Lanza gets a fine for stabbing man 6 times
Also in court, thirty-five year old Herman Lanza has been fined five thousand dollars after pleading guilty to a charge of Grievous Harm. Last Thursday, Lanza, who was being charged for the Attempted Murder of Dean Bennett appeared before Justice Michelle Arana and pleaded guilty to the alternative charge. This morning at his mitigation plea, three character witnesses spoke on Lanza’s behalf. When he took the stand, Lanza apologized for harming Bennett and begged the court for leniency. And instead of sending Lanza to prison, Justice Arana imposed a non custodial sentence and ordered him to pay a fine of three thousand dollars to the court and two thousand to the victim by August twenty-fifth, 2010. The incident occurred back in August twenty-fifth, 2005, when Bennett says Lanza invited him to his home and questioned him about his stolen bicycle. Bennett was stabbed six times to the arm, foot and upper body.
