80 year old murdered in O.W.; cops question son

For the second night in a row we’ll lead this newscast with a startling report from Orange Walk Town. That’s right, another fatal stabbing, but this time, instead of killing in a jealous rage, the murderers appear to be cold and calculating. News Five’s Jacqueline Godwin has just returned with the disturbing details.

Eighty year old George Anglin was stabbed fifteen times to the neck. The elderly man?s tongue and upper lip were also slashed. As Anglin was stabbed he reportedly screamed: ?ah dead, ah dead, ah dead.? The vicious attack occurred at number three Progress Street where Anglin lived with his twenty-six year old son. According to Berries Anglin he had just returned home around nine on Wednesday night when his father told him that they needed to talk and both proceeded to the back of the property to sit under this shed. It was sometime during the conversation that two armed masked men came from the back of the main building. The elder Anglin, who was reportedly standing at the entrance to the shed, was held at knife point while the other suspect pointed a shiny object that appeared to be a gun at the son as he sat on this high board facing his dad. The younger Anglin managed to escape and rushed to the police station where he reported that his father was being attacked.

?The police officers immediately respond and when we got there we saw Mr. Anglin lying on the ground in a pool of blood.?

Although there are many houses in the area apparently no one saw anything except a watchman who told police only that heard noises coming from the direction of the Anglin?s residence but saw no one. Today police suspect the son may know more than what he has told them. Since Wednesday night authorities have been questioning him and at news time he remains at the police station. The Deputy Officer in Charge Inspector Leslie Logan says the son has been assisting them with some information and maintains he was not involved in the homicide. The police say they do not know why Anglin was not shot when he ran away.

We are also trying to answer the route he said he took towards the police station because he made a whole three hundred and sixty degrees running around to get to the station. I think he take the longest route to the station from where they lived.?

?I no think so. I mean all families have there problems and so but I no think my little brother have anything to do with it. No we all loved our father so I no believe that. I no believe that no way.?

Police say they are still trying to establish a motive but at this time they do not believe it was robbery.

?We went over the scene this morning in daylight because we were there last night with our lights we managed to pick a few things there. But we went back to the scene this morning again and we gathered some more clues. We have searched the residents of Mr. Anglin and his house was intact. There was no entry into that house. There was no robbery. His money was still in his wallet intact inside his house.?

The report disturbs the family members who remains deeply troubled over the way their father was killed. Mr. Anglin is described as a quiet individual who lived most of his life in Orange Walk Town taking care of his business, this small snack shop, for some twenty-six years.

?It was senseless and I hope to have some of the citizen help us to crack this investigation. At this time we are ruling out nobody as suspect and we are still questioning a number of people in the area.?

?Nothing was stolen because the police tell we he still had money in his pocket you know. I no know, they just gawn dah the house this morning and really gone through everything.?

The police have been investigating the murder from all angles. Some of the questions surround the troubled past of two of the victim?s sons. It is theorized that the killing could have been a message sent or an act of revenge but whatever the motive the killer displayed an excess of anger and rage. The family says they only know what the son has told the police but cannot believe the younger brother had anything to do with the crime.
