Accused rapist arrested and charged

A Belize City man has been arrested and charged following a
sexual attack against a ten year old girl on Friday morning. Thirty three year old David Pavon of Antelope Street Extension has been arraigned on one count of carnal knowledge. Pavon was detained after he was observed in the sea near Old College Beach with a ten year old girl. Eyewitnesses reported that Pavon removed the child’s clothes as well as his own and proceeded to engage in sex with the child. A medical examination of the victim has certified that she had been violated. According to court reports, the police prosecutor strongly objected to bail and Magistrate Sharon Fraser ordered that he be remanded to Hattieville Prison until the thirtieth of May. We understand tonight that the victim is being counselled by social workers from the Human Services Department.
