Elderly man killed in hit and run accident

There is a hit and run accident to report in the city. At about five-fifteen Saturday morning, seventy-seven year old Carmen Amilcar Trochez was knocked down and killed between miles two and three on the Philip Goldson Highway. The elderly citizen of a Belama Phase Four address was riding his bicycle towards Belize City when it is reported that a white van coming from the same direction hit him from behind. Trochez sustained a large cut wound to forehead and a broken leg. Police visited the scene shortly after to find Trochez’s lifeless body on the right side of the highway. According to police reports, after hitting Trochez, the driver sped off in the direction of Belize City and has not been located.
