The Police Department puts off a Christmas Spectacular variety show

Police officers are sworn to protect and serve.  The men and women of the department are known to keep a straight face in the execution of their respective duties.  But, this Saturday it will be all laughs, as they take to the stage at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts to entertain the public.  According to Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster, the Christmas spectacular is their way of giving back to the community.  Their thespian pursuits were captured during rehearsal this morning.

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster, Deputy Commander, Police Eastern Division

Edward Broaster

“The Police department decided to present a show to the community called Christmas COPS Show. COPS is an acronym for Commissioner of Police offering Peace to the Society. And we believe by doing this, we are offering something back to the society in their cooperation in the reduction of crime for 2013 in Belize City, particularly. We will be doing two drama, couple dances. And one of the drama is Thief, Thief from Thief God laugh. The second drama will be Blessed Day which will be depicting the nativity scene. The importance of rearing children in the right environment and as a community; working together in raising our children the right and proper way. After that, when Jesus is born, we have some police cadet youth core who will be dressed as elves and we have some wise men who will be bringing gifts for baby Jesus. And these gifts range from bicycles to cell phones to comforters to copy printer, fax machines; all different prizes: ham, turkey. And we will be raffling those gifts to the community in attendance. We have officers who are giving out tickets as we speak to various people in the community; however, we intended to do this show at the Battlefield Park, but given the torrential rains that we are experiencing, we decided to move it to the Bliss. The Bliss can only hold six hundred and five individuals. So whoever comes first, is gonna be allowed in. if you show up after six hundred and five individuals then sorry, you won’t be able to enter.”

Tickets for the event can be obtained from the Bliss.
