M.O.H.: Investigation into Kimora Leslie?s death incomplete
The investigation into the case of baby Kimora Leslie continues tonight because the team charged with determining the factors surrounding her death failed to interview the little girl’s family. That’s the word tonight out the Ministry of Health. Apparently the five person panel of government, medical and legal officials submitted their final report to Minister of Health Jose Coye on Tuesday evening but when he thumbed through the three page summary and found no record of any interview with the child’s mother and grandmother, Coye ordered that the team schedule a meeting with the Leslie family as soon as possible. That meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. As for the investigators report on the medical care provided to Kimora prior to her death, tonight we understand that findings show that while there was a delay in having the neurosurgeon Dr. Giovanni Lara evaluate the child’s condition, it remains uncertain whether the necessary shunt could have even been secured for the surgical procedure. On Wednesday, one of the institutions named in Kimora’s controversial case, La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital in Santa Elena, issued a press release stating their position on the case. Loma Luz says that on April twenty-six, four days before Kimora’s death, they were contacted by neurosurgeon Dr. Giovanni Lara. According to them, Lara inquired about one, the possibility of performing a surgery at Loma Luz to remove an old shunt and insert a new one, two, the cost of doing such a procedure and thirdly, the availability of the shunt. According to the Cayo hospital, director of Nursing Keith Neal immediately checked their inventory but discovered that the only shunt they had was not the proper size or style. Neal had apparently also indicated that if the proper shunt was found, the hospital would be willing to provide it free of cost to the patient. The Loma Luz release goes on to say since that date, April twenty-sixth, they have had quote “no further contact with anyone relative to these events even as this article is being penned”. Tonight we are told that the team of investigators, headed by Dr. Jorge Polanco have been given a deadline of Friday afternoon to finish their report properly.
