Mother and daughter charged with witness tampering
A mother and daughter were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court today, charged with trying to convince a witness not to testify. Eighteen year old Sasha Vasquez and thirty five year old Irma Figueroa appeared before Magistrate Margaret McKenzie this morning and pled not guilty to attempted suppression of evidence. The women were granted bail of seven hundred dollars each. The charges stem from a report from Lajuana Gillett who told authorities that last Thursday afternoon the duo visited her at her job and asked that she drop a charge of burglary against Vasquez’s boyfriend Wilfred Garbutt. But instead of being intimidated, Gillett, who works at a local law firm, called the cops and mother and daughter were picked up and arrested.
