Taxi driver charged with attempted murder of ex-wife
Following a shooting incident late last month, police have arrested and charged a taxi driver with attempted murder. According to authorities, thirty-three year old Harold Gilbert Mahler stands accused of attempted murder, grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm. The charges stem from an incident on April thirtieth on Antelope Street extension. On that day, thirty six year old Ursula Smith reported to police that around four in the morning someone knocked on her door. When she looked through the window, she saw it was her ex-common-law-husband. The two spoke through a window but Smith didn’t open the door. That’s when it is alleged that Mahler pulled out a gun and fired a single gunshot which hit Smith in her right elbow.
