Olympic Restaurant jacked by four men
In the other case, an adult and a minor appeared in court this morning for the robbery of a Chinese businessman in Belize City. Proprietor of Olympic Restaurant, Chong Wa Tan, told police that on Saturday he was inside his store when four men entered, held him up at gunpoint and attacked him. The men stole one thousand two hundred dollars in cash and personal items worth two thousand two hundred dollars and then fled. Twenty four year old Kyle Edwards of Reggae Street, along with a sixteen year old minor were charged jointly with one count of Robbery and one count of Wounding. But while the minor pleaded guilty before Revenue Magistrate, Edd Usher, Edwards pleaded not guilty. But after the minor appeared slightly confused over his guilty plea Magistrate Usher decided to enter an equivocal plea of not guilty on his behalf. The minor and Edwards also pleaded not guilty to the charge of wounding. Bail could not be offered so the minor was remanded to Booth Camp while Edwards was sent to prison. Both defendants are due back in court on September eighth.
