Salvadoran child may be victim of human trafficking

Story PictureTonight police are investigating the disturbing case of Diana, a small child who is believed to be the centre of a human smuggling ring. According to sources close to the investigation, the little girl aged approximately two to three years old was found in a private car on the Western Highway between Belmopan and San Ignacio. Investigators are being tightlipped but we understand that the child was found with a group of people but police probes later revealed that no one in the car was a parent or relative. The little girl has only been able to tell authorities that her name is “Diana,” but other clues have led cops to contact counterparts in El Salvador. But what would a small Salvadoran be doing in Belize unaccompanied? That’s the scary question police are now trying to answer. If you have any information that may assist authorities, please contact the nearest police station or call 0-800-922-TIPS. In the meantime, Diana is being cared for by officials of the Ministry of Human Development.
