Mobile Malachi releases first compact disc

Story PictureHe’s been on the music scene for over twenty years and although he’s had success with singles like “Belize Please” and “Put Down the Gun,” it wasn’t until a couple months ago that Mobile Malachi finally decided to put together a full length CD. “Teachings of his Majesty” is a compilation of Malachi’s older hits and some new tracks. This week the musician stopped by our studios to tell us about the album and what sets him apart from others in the industry.

Mobile Malachi
?It?s a CD of more like what?s going on within the Belizean community so to speak, not directly, but how we?re facing things foreign and here. And so it got songs like Guns, songs like Spiritual because we need spiritual strengthening.?

?My favourite song is?like I said, you have the hit song Teachings of his Majesty, but my favourite song is God Alone because you done know we need God inna we heart and without God we can?t stand firm. And we done see weh a go on dah Belize, nuff things a go on without the most high.?

?You have dancehall on it, you have reggae on it, and like festival music. As Belizeans that?s where we used to get out music from the bands them in the islands, which is festival music and they used to put these music on the radio station and that?s how we learn reggae music as a child to growing up here.?

?My music is more of instrument playing, see, players of instrument, because most of these music, dancehall, computer. I?m not trying to go on that direction because those music don?t last, it come today and tomorrow it?s gone. I don?t want to be that. I want to be in the area bracket of Burning Spear, Bob Marley, you see them man deh, they gone in the flesh, but you still a listen to them music.?

Teachings of his Majesty is on sale for twenty dollars at music stores. For those wishing to see Mobile Malachi in action, he will be performing and promoting his CD on Saturday night at the Cahal Pech nightclub in San Ignacio.
