Wave Radio jacker also sentenced to five years
A youth accused of that popular crime of cell phone theft will also spend the next five years in prison. This morning twenty-one year old Bernard Smith and a fifteen year old appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord for the continuation of their trial, but halfway through the proceedings Smith decided to plead guilty to the burglary charge. He was sentenced to the half decade behind bars, while the minor, who was subsequently convicted, received a one-year suspended sentence. According to General Manager of Wave Radio, Juliet Thimbriel, on December twelfth 2005, she was at the radio station on Youth for the Future Drive when two youths entered the building under the guise of selling a raffle. Thimbriel said she left her office, but when she came back a short while later she saw one of the boys, later identified as Smith, coming out of the room and ran after him. While Smith escaped, Thimbriel managed to hold on to the minor and handed him over to police. A check of her office revealed that her Motorola Razr and a hundred dollars in cash were missing. Smith and the phone were later picked up by police.
