Three dead in two road accidents
Two separate traffic accidents on Monday in the northern part of the country have claimed three lives. The first two fatalities occurred between miles forty-one and forty-two on the Northern Highway. Twenty-six year old Erlin Anderson of Libertad Village reported to police that he was driving from Belize City just after midday when his van suffered a blow out. Anderson says he lost control of the vehicle and it flipped several times before coming to rest on the left side of the highway. The seven passengers travelling in the van were rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital, but four year old Erin Junior and twenty-seven year old Elen Linarez were pronounced dead on arrival. Thirty-six year old Kimberly Anderson remains admitted to ward at the K.H.M.H. with a fractured left hip, while fourteen year old Lori Anderson, thirty-two year old Dennis Anderson, and sixteen year old Joseph Pate were treated for head and body injuries. Police continue to investigate the accident.
Around four o’clock that same day, Corozal police were called to the scene of an accident in the Chula Vista area. According to police reports, fifty-seven year old Timmoteo Chable was driving his car when, without stopping, he turned into the Paraiso/Altamira Road. As a result, he collided head-on into the pickup of eighteen year old Edvin Jimenez who was driving through the intersection in the opposite direction. Chable’s Mazda sustained extensive damage and he was trapped inside his vehicle suffering from severe head and body injuries. He was finally freed from the twisted metal and transported to the Corozal Hospital, but died while undergoing treatment.
