Crooked Tree man charged with rape of thirteen year old
A Crooked Tree resident was today arraigned in Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a minor on two separate occasions. Thirty-two year old Victor Edward Gillett appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord where he was charged with two counts of rape and one count of grievous harm. The crime is indictable and Gillett was remanded to custody until his next court date on April twenty-sixth. According to court reports, the thirteen year old victim and her mother reported to police that in October 2005, she was riding her bike towards her home when Gillett called her over and asked her to deliver something to a relative. The girl said when she approached Gillett, he pulled her towards him, held her down on the ground, and forced her to engage in intercourse. The second incident is said to have occurred under similar circumstances in March.
