Convicted killer apologises to family before sentencing
A convicted killer will have to wait two more days to hear his fate after sentencing was delayed today in the Belize City Supreme Court. Twenty-one year old Jermaine Pascascio was found guilty of the murder of Inez “Blankie” Leal in early February and was scheduled to be sentenced today. However, following mitigation pleas by Pascascio’s pastor Fred Howard and attorney Oswald Twist this afternoon, Justice Troadio Gonzalez deferred sentencing until Monday. But during today’s proceedings, Pascascio told the court: “I am asking for consideration on me and I have respect for the family of the deceased, I can feel their pain. I ask the court for a second chance and I am sorry for the wrong path I took in my life before.” Following that statement Twist rose and stated that Pascascio had also instructed him to apologise to the Leal family on his behalf.
