Big Tom in court for indecent words against officers
Some years ago, Belize City resident, Kenneth Flowers, aka “Big Tom” was said to have been shot and killed in the United States but that turned out to be inaccurate and Big Tom returned to Belize. Now, the thirty-six year old claims he is tired of police harassment. He alleges that the GSU harasses him frequently and that this past weekend, when he had enough, he used expletives on the police. Flowers was summed to court and this morning he appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano to answer to three criminal offenses of using indecent words. One was dismissed and Flowers pleaded guilty to the two other charges. In mitigation, he told Magistrate Cayetano that he is searched by the GSU whenever they see him sometimes five or six times a day. On Sunday, he cursed the police because he was angry and frustrated. For the guilty plea on the two counts of indecent words, he was fined one hundred and fifty dollars each which he has to pay by May thirty-first. According to Police Constable Alyson Revers, he and other police officers were on mobile patrol when they spotted a car travelling on Mahogany Street. The vehicle was stopped; one of the four occupants was “Big Tom” who, they claim, used indecent words on them.
