Two charged in separate city burglaries

A botched burglary has landed a Belize City man in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. According to Lyndon Gentle, around midnight on Thursday he went to check on his house on Hyde’s Lane, which is under construction. But when he got to the site, he found a man removing building materials. Gentle told police that when the thief saw him, he advanced in a threatening manner. Gentle wasn’t intimidated and instead he took out his licensed nine millimetre pistol and fired two shots in the culprit’s direction. One of the bullets found its mark in the burglar’s right foot, but the thief still tried to hot foot it out of there. He didn’t get far though as cops responding to the incident soon picked him up and escorted him to the K.H.M.H. Tonight that suspect remains admitted to ward under police guard pending charges.

In court news, another man was this morning arraigned for burglary after police found him hiding in a car with more than a thousand dollars of stolen items. According to Daphne Burgess, when she got to her house on Cesar Ridge Road she found her door open and a number of her household goods missing. When investigators got to the scene and conducted a search of the area, they found forty-four year old Anthony Williams Bradley, also known as Anthony Craig, hiding in a vehicle with Burgess’ belongings including a stereo, standing fan and CD’s. When he appeared before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers today, Craig told the court: “I see the things outside, so I put them in my car.”
